Product Care Guide

UPHOLSTERY

We recommend a professional cleaning service. Do not soak or saturate the material. Routine vacuuming or light brushing is recommended. Test any fabric cleaner in an inconspicuous location. Pilling is natural, remove with a lint or fabric shaver. Always blot, do not rub.

LEATHER

Dry-dust or vacuum regularly. Avoid direct sunlight. Immediately tend to spills. Blot with dry, clean cloth. Do not saturate.

SUEDE

Brush with soft suede brush and vacuum occasionally.

PILLOWS

Dry clean only.

WALLPAPER

Wipe gently with a towel.

LUCITE

Carefully clean with acrylic cleaner and a soft cloth. For scratches use an acrylic scratch remover, carefully following directions. Do not use glass cleaner, it will cause clouding.

BRASS

Real brass pieces may vary due to organic aging, exposure to water and natural changes. Wipe with soft, cotton cloth. Do not use abrasive cloths or polish. We suggest a brass cleaning product like BRASSO.

LAMPSHADES

Light dusting or vacuuming with a soft cloth.

MARBLE

Clean with soft cloth and stone cleaner.

PEWTER

Hand wash in warm water. Dry completely, any water allowed to dry on may cause spots. Remove spots by polishing or gently rubbing with very fine "0000" steel wool.

WOOD FURNITURE

Clean with soft cloth and water sparingly. Do not saturate. Polish with a wood polish and wipe in the direction of the grain.

HIGH GLOSS FINISHES

Clean with only soft microfiber cloth.

RUG CARE

WOOL

Use a spatulate to scrape off food and debris. Loose fibers are common, clip with scissors. Shedding is normal and will subside with regular vacuuming. Vacuum on low. Avoid using water or other liquids, as it may discolor the rug. If cleaning is necessary, contact a professional cleaner.

JUTE

Vacuum on low power setting to avoid pulling the fibers. Cut loose threads to avoid unraveling or damage to the rug. Gently blot spills with a clean cloth. Do not dry clean.

MIXED CONTENT

Clean spills immediately. Using a dry cotton towel, blot out the stain as much as possible. When needed, contact a professional rug cleaner.

VISCOSE

Do not spot clean with water or other liquids as it can discolor the rug. Regularly vacuum. If cleaning is necessary, contact a professional cleaner.

STAINLESSSTEEL POTS AND PANS

Always cool a hot pan completely before washing and never plunge a hot pan into cold water. If there are food residues, fill the pan with warm water and let soak 10 -15 minutes, or until the residues release easily. Nylon or soft abrasive pads or brushes can be used to remove stubborn residue. Do not use metallic pads or harsh cleaning agents, as these will damage the surface.

Uncoated:

A proprietary stainless-steel cleaner can be used to remove hard water lime scale and other marks. It can also be used to condition, polish and protect the inner and outer surfaces. If you notice a slight discoloration on your pans after cleaning them in a dishwasher, try a different detergent. Uncoated Stainless Steel is dishwasher safe.

Nonstick Coated:

The tough, reinforced nonstick coating offers excellent food release and is therefore very easy to clean. To maintain the appearance and performance of the nonstick coating, we recommend washing by hand in hot soapy water rather than cleaning in the dishwasher.

Never store pans while they are still damp.

COPPER

Copper heats and cools very quickly.  To maintain the longevity and possible discoloration of your pan plan to cook on low to medium heat. It’s best to allow your copper cookware to cool before washing. Never put it in the dishwasher or use steel wool or abrasive scouring pads.   Hand-wash your pans using warm water and mild soap, then dry immediately with a soft cloth.

For discoloration use a soft cloth and wipe in a circular motion using equal parts one part lemon juice and three parts kosher salt.

Your copper will naturally patina into a beautiful rich color.

DASH BOARDS

Wash your DASH Board with soap and warm water and scrub well. If your board has stains or smells, you can use lemon juice directly on the area. Dry immediately with a towel and let it air dry standing up or on a raised rack with air flow.

Do not put the board in the dishwasher. The heat and water will warp and splinter the wood.

Do not dunk or let the board stand in water. The wood will absorb water and potentially warp.

Do not use bleach.

Once washed, lay boards upright to dry. If the board dries on one side, it will cause the wood to warp.  Once your DASH Board is thoroughly dry, apply the butcher block oil or cream directly onto the surface of the board. Be generous with the application.  You want the surface to be dripping wet on all sides and we recommend using a small bar towel or new paint brush to spread the oil. Most importantly, let the oil soak into the cutting board for as long as possible, at least a few hours or overnight.

Let your cutting board sit on a wire rack or upright to dry when done. If you are restoring or seasoning an old, dry or new cutting board, you may wish to repeat this process two more times, to ensure your cutting board is completely seasoned.

We recommend you oil your DASH Board every month.

ENAMBLED CAST IRON

Never plunge a hot pan into cold water.

If there are food residues, fill the pan with warm water and let soak for 15 to 20 minutes before washing. A nylon pad or brush can be useful for removing small food deposits, or for cleaning between the ribs on grills. Do not use scourers or abrasive cleaners on the cooking surface. We recommend hand washing in warm water and mild soap.

Constant dishwashing may lead to some dulling of the enamel finish, however; this is not harmful and will not impair performance. When using the dishwasher always allow the cycle to finish before opening the door. This will ensure the pans are dried thoroughly.

Never store pans while they are still damp. Store pans in a dry cupboard or airy space away from steam.

NONSTICK PANS

Cool the pan for a few minutes before cleaning. Do not plunge a hot pan into cold water.

Only recommended nonstick cleaning pads should be used on the nonstick surfaces. Do not use any metal or abrasive pads or abrasive cleaning agents on any of the surfaces.

The pan is dishwasher-safe, but washing by hand is recommended. Simply wash with hot, soapy water, rinse and dry thoroughly. After cleaning, rinse and dry thoroughly.

NON-STICK METAL BAKEWARE

Pans are oven-safe to 475°F. Metal utensils may be used with care, but do not use knives or other utensils with sharp edges.

Before cleaning, let cool for a few minutes. Do not plunge into, or fill with, cold water while still hot. If water becomes trapped inside the rim, this may cause slight rusting. However, this is a natural trait of carbon steel, and will not affect the performance of the product. If desired, you can let dry in a warm oven for a few minutes to remove moisture from inside the rim. Not suitable for dishwasher, microwave, grill or stovetop use.  Do not use metal or harsh washing pads/brushes, or abrasive cleaning agents on any surface.

SILICONE

Silicone is dishwasher-safe, so accessories made entirely from silicone can be placed directly in the dishwasher.

PEPPER AND SALT MILLS

Wipe the exterior with a clean cloth. Do not submerge in water.

Be careful not to overtighten the knob, as this can damage the shaft and grinding mechanisms.

KNIVES

Knives can be honed and sharpened using a hand-held sharpener, an electric sharpener, a sharpening or honing steel, or a whetstone. We recommend using the same brand sharpener as your knife collection, to ensure that the material used is the correct hardness for the steel on your knives.  If unsure, consult with a professional knife sharpener.

We recommend cutting on wooden or plastic surfaces only and avoid cutting on hard surfaces like stone, slate, ceramic, marble or glass as they can damage the cutting edge.  We recommend using a knife block or magnetic rack for storage.

CAST IRON

SEASONING

Apply a very thin, even layer of cooking oil to the cookware (inside and out). If you use too much oil, your cookware may become sticky.  Place the cookware in the oven upside down. Place a large baking sheet or aluminum foil on the bottom rack. Bake at 450-500 degrees F for one hour. Allow it to cool.

CLEANING

Wash your cast iron cookware by hand. You can use a small
amount of soap. If needed, use a pan scraper for stuck on food. For stubborn, stuck-on food, simmer a little water for 3-5 minutes, then use the scraper after the pan has cooled. Never soak in
water.

Dry promptly and thoroughly with a lint-free cloth or paper towel. If you notice a little black residue on your towel, it's just seasoning and is perfectly normal.

Rub a very light layer of cooking oil onto the surface.
Use a paper towel to wipe the surface until no oil residue remains.

CRYSTAL STEMWARE

To remove hard water deposits, warm two cups of white vinegar in the microwave for two minutes and pour it into a plastic basin. Place glasses, on their sides, into the vinegar. Soak for three minutes. Rinse them in clear water and dry with a lint-free towel.

CHINA

Fine China should never be put through the dishwasher.

Before you begin, line the sink with a couple of thick dish towels to cushion the surface and prevent breakage. Plug your sink and fill it with warm water, mixing in several drops of a mild liquid dish soap.  Using a gentle cloth, wash your dishes and rinse them under cool water.  Gently place dishes on a drying rack and allow them to air dry for as long as needed.

LINEN

Be sure to wash linen items in lukewarm or cold water using the gentle cycle on your washing machine. Both cleaning methods are acceptable and will not stretch or shrink your products. Be extra careful when choosing laundry detergents and fabric softeners with harsh chemicals though, as they can damage linen fabric and shorten the lifespan. Do not bleach.

Tumble dry on low temperatures. Remove items from the dryer while they are still slightly damp. Lay them flat to complete the drying process.  Please note that linen typically will shrink 3% on the first wash.

Linen does and will wrinkle. While many people embrace the natural creases and textured look, sometimes you may have an occasion where your linens simply need to be pressed. It is best to iron linen while the fabric is still damp. A medium-hot iron on the steam setting works best. Be sure to iron on both sides.

CANDLES

Trim wicks to 1/4" before each burn. Light candle on a heat-resistant surface within sight and away from drafts.
